Your Donation Helps the DAPCDC Serve the Community


Did You Know...
  • According to Pew and Brookings the median net worth of White families--$171,000--is TEN TIMES that of Black families at $17,000.  And in D.C. alone, Black Families must save for an average of 13 years longer than White Families just to afford the down payment on a home.
  • The average salary for all STEM workers is $100,900, but 40% of Black student students switch out of STEM majors before earning a degree.  https://www.idtech.com/blog/stem-education-statistics.
  • According to the Veterans Administration, some 60,000 military veterans are currently sleeping on the streets and around 1.4 million are considered to be "at risk" of becoming homeless.

Your donations will help us continue to provide financial empowerment workshops that help with Financial Dignity and Wealth Building.  Since 2010, our programs have attracted over 2500 participants who received information to help improve their financial literacy, empower themselves financially, and create perpetual wealth for themselves, their families, and their communities.  


We also provide programs that are designed to increase the representation of minorities in the STEM disciplines.  One of our programs is the Girls Who Code program in which we have graduated over 50 middle school students who learned how to create websites and computer games and how to use computer science to change the world as has been done by real world female role models.  


Your donations will also support our work in Affordable Housing Development.  DAPCDC and Metropolitan AME Church are partnering to address the impact of gentrification on affordable housing in DC by constructing and operating a micro-apartment structure for at-risk military veterans, providing an affordable housing solution and wrap-around services for these vital citizens who have served our country.
